We are having a quiet few days after Jacky and Emily left on Friday so thought I would update the blog with what their last few days entailed before they departed.

Gideon’s Bakehouse

Gideon’s is a bakery like no other…firstly, you have to queue to get inside (and you thought it was only the rides you had to queue for) and secondly, you can’t see what’s inside. So there is an air of mystery that grabs you as you walk past, causing you to join the queue, curious as to what is inside. I mean the entrance more resembles the entrance to a haunted house rather than a bakery.

So, what awaited us when we got inside…the first thing that hits you is the very sweet smell of baking (we got a whiff of this as we waited outside every time the door opened), and this is quickly followed by seeing the amazing décor of a Victorian bookstore. Just when you are wondering where the goodies are, your eyes spot the cabinets of cookies and cakes at the back and you soon realise what all the fuss was about. Feast your eyes on the below

As you can see the slices of cakes are humongous! Between the 4 of us we got 3 cookies – Cookies and Cream, Pistachio Toffee Choc Chip and Banana Bread Choc Chip. I dread to think how many calories are in a single cookie, but if you start to worry about calories in America, you’d never eat anything! They were delicious and lets just say a little goes a long way.

Following our cookie binge we toured some of the hotels, we had to reach some by boat and cable car which were fun ways to travel.

Celebration

As their flight was an evening flight we had pretty much a full day so we did half a day by the pool and then spent a few hours in Celebration in the afternoon

Finally, you may have spotted this on some of the earlier pictures on this post, but if not, I found the best Disney t-shirt ever – it was like it was made for me!
