The Sphere and the Las Vegas Raiders
Just a quick update in relation to the last few days.
Went to the Sphere which is a music and entertainment venue just off the Strip. It opened in 2023 and seats up to 18,600 people. Here is a view from the outside. The colours and patterns on the outside change daily which is a pretty cool sight.

Once inside, we made our way through the futuristic atrium area, complete with robots serving as interactive guides…

and after 4 long escalator rides we made it to the top and eventually into our seats. If you suffer with a fear of heights I suggest booking a seat nearer the bottom! (I nicked a few of the above images from Google to give you a better idea what it’s like)

The film we’d booked to see was called “Postcard from Earth” which tells the story of life on earth. The film was created specifically to be screened on (as their website says) “the Sphere’s 160,000 square foot screen which features 270 degrees of view, to create an immersive viewing experience.” Not sure this picture (or my description) does it justice but hopefully you get the idea. It was very impressive though and well worth the money.

Raaaaaaaiders…
We also went to an NFL game at the Allegiant Stadium, which again is located very near the strip. The above subject heading signifies the chant that would regularly erupt around the stadium. The game saw the Las Vegas Raiders take on the LA Chargers. The Raiders lost 20-34, and, I have just read that they have since fired their Head Coach after a dismal season. As neutrals we didn’t really mind who won, just as long as we saw some touchdowns, which we did. It was an indoor stadium too which is pretty cool.

After the game we wandered back to our hotel (a mere 4 miles – the stadium is at the completely opposite end of the strip to our hotel). We broke up the journey with a few pit stops (I mean beer stops)

A few more pictures of the Strip at night…

Until next time, Lucy
