Aquatica and Epcot

Aquatica and Epcot

Just a quick update in relation to the theme parks we have tackled in the last few days.

Aquatica is a water park that is affiliated with SeaWorld, and again, this was a park I’d never done so was keen to try it out. There was everything you’d want in a water park, so lots of slides, pools, rapids and lazy rivers.

The slides varied in extremeness. The most extreme was the drop slides, whereby you get shut in a chamber, with a trapdoor for a floor. You stand up straight against the back of the chamber wall, with legs and arms crossed, whilst saying a silent prayer to yourself. Then they basically press a button and the trapdoor opens and you are plunged down the flume. It sounds pretty terrifying I know, but it’s really not as bad as you may think, and because of the speed you are going you don’t have too much time to think about it. That said there is always a few people that chicken out at the top and have to do the walk of shame back down the steps.

The majority of the other slides are a lot more straightforward thankfully, involving rubber rafts and no trapdoors! There was some cool river rapids too where you don a lifejacket and the current takes you around the river.

Epcot

First on our list of Disney parks was Epcot. There is a lot going on at Epcot as it is made up of two large areas full of rides, shows, live music, shops, restaurants etc. Half of the park is the “World Showcase” which is situated around a big lake and consists of 11 areas all themed to a different country. The UK is one of countries that is showcased, and I will let you guess what pictures from the ones below are the ones taken from this area – it’s not difficult!

You can click all these photos for larger sizes by the way

We were lucky enough to be there when the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival was on, which meant lots of exclusive kiosks had been set up serving small tasters of food and drink from across the world.

We did also make a few interesting friends along the way…

Off to play some more crazy golf now to see who takes the lead.

    1. They had loads around the World Showcase, but we tried the Tikka Masala from India, an “Italian Nachos” from Italy which was nachos made from pasta, and a Guava Cake from Hawaii. We’ve got our eye on some others when we go back!
