Best night…

Best night…

You may not know this, but back in the day, I used to be a bit of a Hanson fan – I mean who doesn’t love the song MMMBop right?! Don’t judge me but I still listen to their album “Middle of Nowhere” in my car. After trying (and failing) to persuade anyone to come with me to see them when they played at the Academy in Bristol in July, I couldn’t believe it when I saw that they were…

Aquatica and Epcot

Aquatica and Epcot

Just a quick update in relation to the theme parks we have tackled in the last few days. Aquatica is a water park that is affiliated with SeaWorld, and again, this was a park I’d never done so was keen to try it out. There was everything you’d want in a water park, so lots of slides, pools, rapids and lazy rivers. The slides varied in extremeness. The most extreme was the drop slides, whereby you get shut in a…

Touring more hotels and our first (of many I’m sure) mini golf

Touring more hotels and our first (of many I’m sure) mini golf

Hi all, we’ve had a quieter week this week in Orlando, but we’re gearing up to some busy days over the next couple of weeks when we are planning to go to more theme parks. We did have our first games of mini golf this week which was a good Hawaiian themed 2x 18 holes near where we are staying – one win each for those who are counting! Although there was only one hole in one overall, so I’ll…

SeaWorld

SeaWorld

As you know we had our first day at a theme park yesterday and it was epic! And long! We got there for opening at 9:00am and didn’t leave until gone 6:30pm. It was the first time we’d been back to SeaWorld since my first trip to Florida in 2010 and it is fair to say it has improved immensely. There were a lot more rides and shows than I remember, situated around a big lake area, so it was…

We survived Hurricane Milton and hiked around the Disney hotels

We survived Hurricane Milton and hiked around the Disney hotels

It was a mad few days in the run up to the hurricane. As the news reports worsened, everything started to close down, people were panic buying bottled water, tinned food and other essential supplies, and the weather slowly began to turn more bleak. Our resort basically became like a ghost town. When the storm arrived in the night sleep proved difficult owing to the strong winds battering against the walls and windows, and the continual heavy rain. It was…

Kennedy Space Center and Hurricane Milton

Kennedy Space Center and Hurricane Milton

Hi everyone. Lots of people have messaged us to ask about the impending Hurricane that’s forecast to hit Florida this week. We seem to have a knack for being in Orlando when these big hurricanes come in, last time (Oct 2022) we got stuck in our hotel for 2 days which was annoying as it cut in to our 2 week holiday and we had to miss a couple of days at the theme parks. This time we at least…

Our first few days in Orlando

Our first few days in Orlando

Hi everyone, here’s the first update on our travels. We flew out for our first extended trip in the States last week on 2 Oct, and we’ll be in Florida for the next 2 months, staying in the Kissimmee area of Orlando, and then moving to the West coast to Clearwater / Tampa area for a week at the end. The weather is really hot, although there’s a hurricane forecast later this week so it’s turned a bit rainy and…
